Commercial on-road safety issues have gained international recognition as bicyclists, motorcyclists, and pedestrians continue to be involved in collisions with turning trucks and buses. Focusing on the growing awareness for the need of vulnerable road user (VRU) protections and on-road driver safety, Stoneridge-Orlaco and Sensata have come together to launch Digital SideEye, an advanced side object detection solution for the commercial vehicle market. This system consists of Sensata's PreView Side Defender®II and Stoneridge-Orlaco’s high-resolution digital camera monitor system.

- Developed for urban city areas to protect road users in blind spots at speeds under 20 mph
- Visual and audible alerts on moving cars, motorcycles, pedestrians, and bicycles
- Uses radar technology to detect VRUs; camera images and an integrated warning symbol are then displayed on the monitor to alert the drier to VRU’s in the blind spot
- With turn-signal activated, an audible alarm will sound when a VRU is in the blind spot
