Who We Are

Established in 2017 as Sensata Technologies' U.S.-based philanthropic arm, Sensata Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization that directly supports qualifying charitable entities. The Foundation builds on Sensata's history of working to strengthen local communities and offers programs that advance the Company's sustainability priorities including community development and STEM education.


Our People

The Sensata Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors and supported by Officers who develop and administer the Foundation's programs. Employees from Sensata Technologies make up the Board and the Officers. The Foundation's work is also supported by committees made up of Sensata employees who volunteer their time.

Our Approach

The Foundation’s philanthropic programs build community partnerships, raise funds and distribute grants to provide support to nonprofits across the U.S. The Sensata Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors and supported by Foundation Officers.
The Foundation's giving programs include:
  • Annual grant program
  • Employee matching gift program
  • Disaster relief
  • Donations made in recognition of Company acquisitions
In 2022, the Foundation increased total grant funding to $350,000 and provided grants to 37 partner organizations. The 2022 grantees support a breadth of causes, including STEM education and community services. The Foundation also gave toward relief efforts, such as domestically for communities in the Southeastern US affected by Hurricane Ian as well as overseas to aid people affected by the unrest in Ukraine.


Our Annual Grant Process

Every year, we invite U.S. nonprofit organizations based in communities where Sensata employees live and work to submit an application for a Sensata Foundation grant. The specific projects or programs that the grants support are aligned with the Foundation’s two focus areas: STEM Education (Primary and Secondary School) and Community Support. The grants, which are typically one-year awards, vary in size but generally range from $5,000 to $25,000.
